The active-duty leisure offer

The eligibility FAQ names active-duty members of the U.S. Army, U.S. Navy, U.S. Air Force, U.S. Marines, U.S. Space Force and U.S. Coast Guard.

The FAQ also states that if your military status or branch is not an available choice on the verification form, you are not eligible for this offer. This is the published condition; no additional identity category is invented here.

Itinerary conditions and exclusions

  • The flight must originate in the U.S., Guam, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands or Canada.
  • The itinerary must be fully operated by United or United Express. The stated destination scope is United-operated destinations worldwide, not every partner-operated flight.
  • The active-duty MileagePlus account holder must be on the itinerary.
  • Other travel discount certificates, discounted fares and United Vacations discounts cannot be combined with this offer.
  • Special promotional fares are not eligible.
  • Basic Economy tickets are not eligible.
  • Government-imposed taxes and fees and carrier-imposed international surcharges are outside the discount.

Additional discount details, checked 2026-09-15. A separate points-redemption restriction was not confirmed; this guide does not infer one from other airlines or unrelated offers.

Keep the passenger statements separate

Main page: up to nine passengers per itinerary. FAQ: up to eight dependents can receive the discount when traveling on the same record with the active-duty Military MileagePlus account holder. The sources use different wording, passengers and dependents. Both statements are retained rather than replaced with a single rewritten eligibility limit.

Main-page passenger condition; Can I book discounted flights for my dependents?. Checked 2026-09-15.

Apply the percentage to the correct base

Calculation rule, not a fare quote: eligible base-fare savings = eligible published base fare × 5%. The percentage and eligible base come from the official terms. This review did not collect a qualifying ticket price, so it supplies no monetary result or invented itinerary comparison.

Verify your status before using the offer

  1. Sign in to your MileagePlus account on united.com or the United App. If you do not have an account, the FAQ directs you to enroll.
  2. Open My Account and select Military Discount.
  3. Follow the verification form. If your status or branch is not a selectable option, the FAQ says you are not eligible for the offer.
  4. If asked for supporting documents, provide a recent LES within 90 days or current orders issued within one year of today's date.
  5. Make sure the first and last name on the document match your MileagePlus profile. The document must show your name, service branch and current armed-services status. Cover unrelated sensitive information.

The FAQ says United uses a verification service to check the supplied information. These are official instructions, not a claim that this review submitted documents or verified an account.

Verification validity: one year from the date of approved verification. Re-verify eligibility after it expires. This is an identity-verification period, not a published end date for the leisure offer.

The general benefits list is a different list

The main page's general United benefits section also names service-academy cadets or midshipmen, commissioned officers of the U.S. Public Health and NOAA corps, Reserve and National Guard members on active orders, and members discharged within seven days of scheduled travel. That broader list is not substituted for the leisure-discount eligibility section or verification-form choices.

The page separately links to baggage and lounge rules and a government or military flight-search interface. The interface does not establish a universal government-fare percentage. Its Basic Economy search option does not override the leisure offer's Basic Economy exclusion.

United Vacations: a separate hotel-component discount

The military package offer applies a 3% discount to the hotel portion, capped at US$150 per reservation (checked 2026-09-15). It requires a US$1,000 minimum spend (checked 2026-09-15) and at least a three-night stay. These are package terms, not the ordinary flight discount or an airfare price.

The offer covers qualifying active-duty or veteran U.S. military personnel and companions on the same reservation. The terms specify air-and-hotel packages from all origins to international or Hawaii destinations and exclude multi-stop bookings.

Use the official package page's Process section for its document and email instructions. It describes a personal, one-time-use promo code. This guide does not provide a personal code or claim to have requested one.

The code cannot combine with another promo code or a price match. The FAQ permits requesting a code after booking by following the stated process. The page separately permits combining the offer with its bonus-mile program; that statement is not a general points-payment rule.

Package-code validity: booking and travel must fall within one year from the date the code is sent, as specified in the email. Leisure-verification validity: one year from verification approval. The starting events and purposes differ and are not merged into one deadline.

Official package Process, FAQs and footnote terms, checked 2026-09-15. The package percentage, cap and minimum spend do not apply to the direct leisure airfare offer.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use a United Airlines military discount online?

Yes. The published active-duty leisure offer supports united.com and the United App, using the MileagePlus verification and booking selections described above.

What should I check when searching for military discount flights United?

Check the traveler's eligibility, verification status, itinerary origin, operating airlines and fare exclusions. A search result or a government-fare form does not establish that every flight qualifies.

Does United Airlines for military mean every listed military benefit has the same eligibility?

No. The general benefits list is broader than the separate active-duty leisure-offer wording. The FAQ's verification-form condition remains relevant.

Are United Airlines military fares the same as the vacation-package offer?

No. The direct leisure offer discounts an eligible published base fare. The package offer concerns a hotel component and has its own code, minimums and validity period.

Does a United military rate discount the entire tax-inclusive total?

The direct leisure percentage applies to the eligible published base fare. The listed government taxes, fees and carrier-imposed international surcharges are excluded.

Can a veteran assume United's military leisure offer applies?

No. A United veterans discount is not established merely by veteran status: the direct leisure offer described here is for eligible active-duty service members, and the active-duty account holder must travel. Vacation packages have separate terms.

Reading methods and dates

Reviewed 2026-09-15. The English U.S. main page and individual FAQ answers were read in the selected browser. Web-text requests returned a JavaScript shell or could not open the FAQ; those responses were not used as policy evidence. The package policy was read through official web text; a successful package browser read is not claimed.

A common calendar start or end date for the direct leisure offer was not established in the reviewed main page and FAQ. That does not mean permanent validity. Verification expiry, personal package-code dates and historical news publication dates are not interchangeable offer or quotation dates.
