Alaska Airlines Military Discount

Military Fares and Separate Benefits

Contact Reservations to check your route and eligibility. This fare applies only to new tickets purchased through a Reservations team member and requires immediate ticketing. Unpublished pricing does not mean there is no offer. Checked 2026-09-15.

How to request the military fare

  1. Open the official military fare page and check the detailed eligibility below.
  2. Contact Alaska Airlines Reservations or Hawaiian Airlines Reservations by phone to ask whether the fare is available for your route.
  3. Have a Reservations team member issue the new ticket. Immediate ticketing is required.
  4. Follow the applicable fare rules and identification requirements, including the dependent check-in requirements.

All applicable fare rules and fees remain in force, including the change and name-transfer fees described on this page. No matching-condition telephone, online or counter price comparison was established; this guide does not fill that field with zero or imply equal prices.

Eligible operating carriers are Alaska Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, and Horizon and SkyWest when operating on behalf of Alaska. This is not an entitlement on every partner-airline flight. How does the military fare work?; What other rules apply?; checked 2026-09-15.

Detailed fare eligibility and identification

The dedicated fare page lists U.S. military personnel traveling on an official excused absence, personnel discharged from active duty who complete all travel within 7 days of discharge, and military reserves on active duty.

The listed immediate-family categories are spouse/dependents aged 10 or older with dependent ID, and children aged 2 through 9 of U.S. active-duty military personnel. They must be legal dependents. These age categories are reproduced as conditions of this fare, not generalized to every military benefit.

Service members must present a valid active-duty Armed Forces of the United States Identification Card, or separation papers for qualifying travel within the discharge window. Dependents must present proper identification and documentation at check-in. For dependents aged 10 or older, the page specifies a white Uniform Services Dependent Identification and Privilege Card marked active. If names differ, additional evidence of dependency may be required.

This fare excludes retired personnel and personnel on temporary-duty orders traveling to or from their temporary duty stations. These exclusions belong to this fare; they do not establish that the traveler is excluded from every benefit. Who is eligible?; personnel and family requirements; other rules; checked 2026-09-15.

The benefits overview uses a broader description of people who previously served. That summary does not erase the dedicated fare page's discharge window or retired-personnel exclusion. The two descriptions are kept in context rather than combined into a general veteran-fare promise. Book military fares; checked 2026-09-15.

A complete online identity-document upload process was not confirmed in this review. Not confirmed does not mean no verification exists.

The subscription-member route is separate

The official benefits page acknowledges a flight discount for members of its linked subscription program. It directs existing members to sign in through that program and others to follow its enrollment link. The reviewed brand introduction does not publish a percentage or a complete booking and verification workflow for that route.

External rates, account-linking instructions and member-platform terms are not used to fill these official fields. The phone-only rule for the dedicated military fare is not automatically transferred to this separate member route. Membership benefits program section; checked 2026-09-15.

Keep fares and benefits in separate rows

The benefits page defines Current Service Members as active-duty U.S. military personnel with a valid military ID. The accompanying-family conditions below belong to each benefit. Book military fares; individual benefit sections; checked 2026-09-15.

Read the baggage body, not just its heading

The benefits page heading mentions five bags, but the body distinguishes the first 2 bags from the first 5 when traveling on orders. This guide preserves that distinction for the stated current service members and accompanying spouse and dependent children.

The linked detailed baggage page returned an error page in the browser and only navigation/footer content through web-text retrieval. Its policy body was not established in this review. Weight limits, size limits and any detailed exceptions remain unconfirmed; no numbers are borrowed from older articles or other airlines. Baggage benefit body; checked 2026-09-15. Detailed page: substantive body not retrieved; checked 2026-09-15.

Lounge and pet conditions are not ticket discounts

For complimentary lounge access, the official benefits section specifies official government-sponsored travel through its named government booking channel and an Alaska flight departing within 3 hours. It does not promise complimentary access to all military travelers. Other current members traveling on a paid or award Alaska ticket may purchase a discounted pass; military ID and available space still matter. Follow the official section to identify the required booking channel.

Pet cargo is a separate shipping benefit. The benefits page requires a Common Access Card indicating Uniformed Services at payment and at the airport, without photocopies. PCS orders must be provided at acceptance within 60 days of the report date and reviewed at tender. Missing or out-of-window orders result in the full AVI rate. The cargo discount applies to shipments directly related to an official move, not commercial shipments or personal moves. Visit an Alaska Lounge; Fly with four-legged friends; checked 2026-09-15.

Frequently asked questions

Does Alaska publish a single military airfare percentage?

The reviewed dedicated fare page does not publish one, or a fixed ticket price or calculation base. That does not mean there is no special fare.

Can I book the special military fare online?

The dedicated military fare page says phone only, for new tickets issued by a Reservations team member, with immediate ticketing. The separate member route has its own instructions.

Does the military fare exclusion apply to every benefit?

No such conclusion follows from the fare page. Its retired-personnel and temporary-duty exclusions are conditions of that specific fare. Other benefits must be checked separately.

Do all qualifying travelers get five free bags?

The reviewed benefits body distinguishes two bags from five when traveling on orders. Detailed weight and size limits remain unconfirmed in this review.

Is a fixed percentage published for Alaska Airlines’ veterans discount?

For an Alaska Airlines veterans discount inquiry, the reviewed military-fare route is phone-only in some markets. No uniform percentage was confirmed; check the page's specific eligibility conditions.

Review methods and dates

Reviewed 2026-09-15. Search-result URLs carrying tracking parameters returned browser error pages. The same official paths without those parameters were read through web-text retrieval; this is not claimed as successful browser access. The military commitment and detailed baggage pages did not yield substantive policy text. Error pages and navigation shells do not establish missing benefits.

Dedicated calendar start and end dates were not established in the reviewed fare material. This does not mean permanent validity. Article dates, the post-discharge window and PCS timing conditions are not dated ticket-price comparisons.
