Small Carrier and Prepaid Military Discounts: Offers, Requirements and Alternatives
Tracfone and PureTalk have verified military service discounts. Xfinity Mobile offers an included phone line for eligible military households with Xfinity Internet, subject to a published deadline. Consumer Cellular has a USAA membership benefit. Patriot Mobile publishes military savings, although its application details remain unconfirmed here.
For the remaining brands, this review did not establish a standing military-status service discount. Public offers, annual billing and group pricing may still be worth comparing.
Checked September 12, 2026. “Not found” below means not found in the official material checked during this review. It does not mean the carrier has declared that no discount exists.

Tracfone military discount: calculate by the service period
Tracfone offers 10% off eligible unlimited talk-and-text plans starting at $20. Active-duty personnel, National Guard, reserves, veterans and their spouses are included.
Sign in to ID.me, complete verification and select a qualifying plan. The reduction applies at checkout. Extended Service Plans are excluded; the military discount can combine with Auto Pay savings.
At the published $20 base price:
$20 × 10% = $2 saved per line per service month.
$20 − $2 = $18 before taxes and fees.
Tracfone defines a month as 30 days. Twelve Tracfone service months cover 360 days, so the word monthly hides a renewal-calendar difference.
Comparison advice: put the renewal dates beside the prices when comparing this plan with calendar-month billing. Multiplying the advertised charge by twelve does not establish the cost of uninterrupted service throughout a full calendar year.
PureTalk military discount: budget for the activation payment
PureTalk publishes a 20% discount. Activate service, then email eligibility information. Veterans may use a DD214, VA ID card or a driver’s license showing veteran status; the active-duty instructions request full name and date of birth.
The first month is full price. The instructions describe the discount starting after verification, on the second bill.
Using the published $24.99 plan:
$24.99 × 20% = $4.998, approximately $5 saved per discounted month.
$24.99 × 80% = $19.992, approximately $19.99 before taxes and fees.
These are calculations, not observed bills. Actual rounding was not tested.
A discounted PureTalk renewal does not retroactively make the activation payment cheaper. Budgeting advice: keep the full activation payment in your comparison and use the reduced amount only for eligible later bills. Multi-line stacking terms could not be fully verified during this review.
Xfinity Mobile military offer: separate the deadline from the benefit
Eligible verified households with Xfinity Internet can receive one included unlimited phone line for 24 months. Sign in with an Xfinity ID and complete military verification. The discount should appear within one to two billing cycles.
The published offers expire September 30, 2026. Diamond membership and a separate NOW TV benefit are also listed.
A free Xfinity line has two separate clocks: the deadline to claim it and the period for which it is included.
Comparison advice: record the enrollment deadline and your line’s benefit period separately. Keep internet charges and equipment costs outside the included-line amount. A household adding internet specifically to qualify needs to price that additional service before treating the phone line as a household saving.
A universal dollar saving per line was not established here: the military FAQ identifies an included unlimited line without providing an account-specific regular charge.
Consumer Cellular and Patriot Mobile: published savings with missing steps
Consumer Cellular military-related savings come through USAA membership: 5% off monthly service and 30% off select accessories. An active membership ID is required. Phones, devices, taxes and fees are excluded.
The application workflow and first discounted bill were not confirmed. Practical advice: have Consumer Cellular identify the eligible service subtotal and explain how your membership will be recorded before authorizing an order. An accessory percentage should not be included in recurring phone-plan savings.
Patriot Mobile military discount appears as 15% in published broadband labels. Detailed eligibility, accepted documents, stacking and the first discounted bill remain unconfirmed.
A military offer can be real while its application route remains unverified. Practical advice: ask for the eligible plan, required proof and start date together. Until those details are available, leave the expected monthly saving uncalculated.
Visible military discount search: the public monthly offer changes the comparison
A standing military discount was not found in this review.
Visible’s base plan lists $275 annually, equivalent to $275 ÷ 12 = approximately $22.92 per month. Against the regular $25 monthly rate, annual billing saves $25 × 12 − $275 = $25 per year.
However, eligible new members can currently use SAVE6 for $6 off the monthly plan for twelve months. That makes the base plan $19 monthly, or $228 over twelve months—$47 below the $275 annual price.
The promotion requires the code, an eligible monthly plan and continued service to receive the full benefit. It excludes annual plans and transitions to market pricing afterward.
Comparison advice: annual billing is not automatically the lower-cost route. Check your actual promotion eligibility before paying upfront.
Mint Mobile, Red Pocket and Metro: match payment timing to your plans
A standing military discount was not found for these brands in this review.
Mint Mobile and Red Pocket: compare the amount due upfront, the period purchased and the renewal price. Both publish prepaid options; introductory savings should be separated from later pricing.
An annual price answers what you pay if you stay; it does not answer what leaving early will cost. Practical advice: check the cancellation and refund terms before choosing a longer prepaid period.
Metro by T-Mobile: the online base BYOD offer lists $30 for the first month, followed by $25 with AutoPay. It allows a new number or a transferred number.
Calculated first-year service total:
$30 + ($25 × 11) = $305, approximately $25.42 per month, assuming the rate and eligibility remain unchanged.
That is the online BYOD comparison, not a quote for every Metro promotion. A separate device or port-in offer needs its own calculation.
Google Fi, Cricket and Optimum: price the household you actually have
A standing military discount was not found for these brands in this review.
Google Fi publishes group pricing, and Cricket lists multi-line savings. Optimum advertises three qualifying Unlimited lines for $60 monthly with AutoPay: $60 ÷ 3 = $20 per line, before additional charges and subject to new-line terms.
Count the lines your household needs before counting the lines an offer rewards.
Comparison advice: request the total for the same number of necessary lines from each candidate. Keep any required internet service in the household total. Do not compare a single-line price with a multi-line headline as though both were available for the same purchase.
Other alternatives worth checking
For US Mobile, check the eligible number-transfer trial and the plan that renews afterward. For Boost Mobile, compare plan and AutoPay pricing. For Ting and Twigby, examine usage-based or smaller-data options before purchasing a larger allowance.
For Spectrum Mobile, this review found military-focused bundle marketing but did not establish an additional military-only monthly mobile reduction. For Cox Mobile, a GOVX reward offer was found, but complete terms and the final amount remain unresolved.
For Straight Talk and Total Wireless, Lifeline is a separate route. Their eligibility lists include Veterans Pension and Survivors Benefit; veteran status alone does not establish qualification through that listing.
Cricket and Boost also publish deployment assistance. Service suspension or number preservation should be evaluated separately from the cost of an active domestic plan.
Choose the next step for your situation
If you want a verified service reduction, begin with the Tracfone or PureTalk application requirements. If you already have qualifying Xfinity Internet, check the military offer’s deadline. If you prefer a brand marked “not found,” compare the public alternative in its row.
This comparison does not assign Verizon’s military pricing to Visible, T-Mobile’s to Mint or Metro, or AT&T’s to Cricket. Brand-specific eligibility for those parent offers was not verified.
Finish with a shortlist that states the amount due now, the next renewal amount and the date any promotional rate ends. Leave unresolved savings blank until you have the terms needed to claim them.
Frequently asked question
Do Tracfone and PureTalk use the same military verification process?
