Office-Supply Military Offers: Staples and Office Depot Compared
Office Depot / OfficeMax publishes a 20% off coupon and separate 25% Bonus Rewards offers with a $100 weekly rewards cap. Staples’s current US standing military rate remains unconfirmed; its reported 2022 offer is historical. A checkout discount, future rewards and discounted gift cards have different bases. Do not add their percentages or rank the stores without matching the purchase and usable benefit.

Off, back in rewards and a cheaper gift card are different
A price coupon reduces the eligible purchase amount under its conditions. Bonus Rewards are a later program benefit, not cash and not necessarily usable immediately. Buying a discounted gift card is a separate purchase with card restrictions and possible platform costs.
Office Depot’s 25% military rewards replace its ordinary 2%, while ID.me affiliate cashback is a different program. Staples’s private gift-card rate was not read, and its UK listings do not establish US discounts. None of these figures can be added mechanically.
Use separate calculations
For an eligible price coupon, reduction = r × P. Office Depot’s stated price-coupon rate is 0.20. Its military rewards use the qualifying net spend and weekly cap: reward credit = min(0.25 × Q, $100), subject to the offer’s rules and allowance already used.
For a gift card, a conditional calculation is usable face value − purchase price − relevant membership costs − fees. It assumes the full value can be used for the intended purchase. Staples’s private inputs remain unknown, not zero.
Compare the same basket and distinguish money due now from later usable benefits. These pages do not establish which store is cheaper for a purchase that has not been specified.
Offer dates, article dates and reward timing stay separate
Staples’s 2022 reported offer ended November 12, 2022; a later news update did not extend it. Office Depot’s 2020 and 2022 printed 25% off flyers have their own expired windows and are not the current 25% rewards program.
Office Depot’s general Help Center calls its store military benefit ongoing, but specific coupons have printed deadlines. Coupon-email delivery, rewards posting and reward-document expiry are separate timing rules. Each retailer’s guide preserves those distinctions.
Keep brand and channel requirements attached
OfficeMax forms belong with Office Depot in this comparison because the relevant official store and Rewards terms name both. The two names do not by themselves establish an extra benefit or cap; cross-channel allowance treatment remains unverified. Verified online rewards and a store coupon should not be treated as identical redemption paths.
Staples’s ordinary Online coupon labels do not prove military eligibility. Any current military purchase needs its own valid terms and qualifying items. Missing exclusions are not a promise that everything qualifies.
