Military Insurance Discounts: Compare Five Providers

USAA, GEICO, Progressive, Allstate and State Farm have different military-related insurance rules. Published maxima, state-law discounts and deployment-related insurance-history treatment are not interchangeable. Compare the same protection, actual eligibility, underwriting company and final quote. A missing nationwide percentage is not zero savings, and no provider is ranked cheaper from these figures.

Two 15% headlines can describe different reductions

USAA’s on-base footnote limits the reduction to comprehensive coverage, adding collision in California. GEICO’s national military page uses total-premium wording, while its Vermont page refers to certain auto coverages. That difference prevents a fair price ranking from the headline percentages alone.

For each quote, use saving = actual rate × confirmed eligible premium. Match coverages, limits, deductibles, vehicles, drivers and policy dates. Compare final premiums including applicable fees; no premium amounts or personalized savings were estimated.

Deployment, vehicle storage and coverage changes

USAA’s storage offer requires secure storage and no driving, with state exclusions. GEICO’s Emergency Deployment conditions refer to designated-area orders and an approved storage plan. GEICO’s separate Deployed Driver entry and its 30-day storage-protection threshold are not substitutes for those conditions.

A lower premium after reducing coverage is not evidence of a discount on identical protection. Confirm remaining coverage and effective dates with the insurer. A military assignment alone does not establish every discount in this table.

Unknown terms remain unknown

These public pages do not determine your final eligibility, policy price, every permitted combination or every state-specific exclusion. A missing rate does not mean zero savings, and a missing end date does not promise a permanent benefit.

Source-check dates, an information-as-of note, enrollment periods and offer expiries serve different purposes. The source registers preserve those distinctions.

Progressive: state law and deployment history have different roles

Progressive’s official deployment article preserves its Continuous Insurance Discount after an overseas-deployment gap. Its general discount page gives variable savings, first-renewal timing and state restrictions. The absence of a dedicated national military percentage in a directory is not a nationwide denial.

Louisiana’s 25% statutory rule uses a liability-premium base for qualifying personnel. The insurer tax-credit clause includes categories beyond the mandatory-discount clause, so the two lists are not merged. Product-specific military entries on Progressive’s Louisiana motorcycle and RV pages do not establish a single nationwide auto rate.

Read Progressive’s conditions and sources.

Allstate: do not turn a state-specific rating rule into a national percentage

Allstate Fire and Casualty Insurance Company’s Michigan information treats qualifying overseas military deployment as continuous prior insurance if coverage existed immediately before deployment. It gives no fixed military percentage. That company/state scope is kept separate from Louisiana’s statutory military discount.

Allstate’s Louisiana multi-car 25% headline is another program, not proof of military eligibility. The national directory’s missing military rate is also not a nationwide denial. Confirm the actual policy rule and base before comparing savings.

Read Allstate’s source-specific conditions.

State Farm: retain the blanks in each state-page description

The Louisiana brand page confirms a Military Personnel Discount and application condition, but not a military percentage, defined premium base or coverage breakdown. Kentucky describes a military course qualification without publishing those numerical fields. Their unknowns stay visible beside the separately sourced Louisiana legal requirement.

Only a military-related percentage belongs in the military-rate field. An ordinary program’s number and a third-party assertion do not repair a missing official term. A missing nationwide rate is not a denial of every state-specific benefit.
