Sam’s Club Military Membership Discount: First-Year Price and Renewal
Sam’s Club’s linked military offer lists a first year for $20 with Club or $50 with Plus, plus applicable tax, after eligibility verification. Veterans are included in the brand’s membership-help page. The offer requires a new membership and a 24-month membership-history check. Renewal is at the then-current fee; the separate $10 Sam’s Cash renewal benefit is not an immediate fee reduction.

First payment, renewal and rewards are different
| Item | Published amount | Calculation base | Restrictions | Dates and source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Club military enrollment | $20 plus applicable tax | One initial annual primary membership, not merchandise spending | Use the linked military route; new-member and 24-month conditions apply | Through January 31, 2027 or while quantities last. Military Club offer |
| Plus military enrollment | $50 plus applicable tax | One initial annual primary membership, not an upgrade of an existing account | Same new-member conditions; Plus purchase rewards are separate | Through January 31, 2027 or while quantities last. Military Plus offer |
| Published standard annual dues | Club $60; Plus $120 | Annual membership charge, not a discount or reward | Current official help-page amounts; future renewal uses the fee then in effect | Read September 22, 2026. Membership fees; Renewal fees |
| Renewal Sam’s Cash | $10, conditional and delayed | Reward after an eligible renewal, not $10 off initial enrollment | Narrower eligibility wording, once per primary member, 4–6-week credit timing and active-membership requirement | Offer may change or end; keep this distinct from the membership year. Renewal benefit terms |
| Plus purchase rewards | 2% Sam’s Cash, up to $750 per 12-month membership period | Qualifying purchases only; official help describes qualifying in-club purchases | Not a military-only benefit or a discount on the membership fee; exclusions apply | Membership-period cap, not a coupon expiry. Military and veteran membership eligibility
Sam’s Club’s official military help article names active and retired personnel, veterans and spouses; its list also includes civilian military employees. It directs online applicants to ID.me. Use the official route and its current verification requirements; no identity check was performed for this review.
The linked enrollment terms require age 18 or older and a new primary membership. They exclude current members, renewals, people who were members less than 24 months before joining, and Walmart or Sam’s Club associates. Do not substitute a different promotion’s membership-history rule.

The $10 renewal benefit is Sam’s Cash, not today’s discount
The offer describes $10 Sam’s Cash after renewal for eligible members who joined through the specified route. Its reward clause specifically names active and retired U.S. military and their spouses; it does not repeat every group in the broader membership-help list. Confirm reward eligibility separately rather than assuming the entire list qualifies.
The stated credit timing is four to six weeks after renewal. Membership must remain active for 12 months after the credit or the reward may be forfeited. The offer is limited to one per primary member and may change or end. Do not subtract this conditional later credit from the $20 or $50 you pay to join.
Automatic renewal and cancellation timing
The linked offer enrolls you in recurring annual renewal at the membership price then in effect, plus applicable taxes. Active add-ons can also be charged. The current renewal-help page lists $60 for Club and $120 for Plus; these are not a promise that future fees will never change.
The military offer says to cancel auto-renew at least 24 hours before the membership is due to renew to avoid the charge. Review the renewal date and settings in your own account. This guide did not enroll anyone or change any renewal setting.
Club versus Plus: compare benefits on their own terms
Plus advertises 2% Sam’s Cash on qualifying purchases, capped at $750 per 12-month membership period. It is an earned reward, not 2% off your membership fee. Do not assume every purchase earns it.
The official benefits page limits Plus free shipping and selected delivery to eligible orders over $50. The military landing page’s shorter description of free shipping and delivery says qualifying orders; it is not unlimited free delivery on every order.
The Club and Plus membership offers are alternatives. Do not add them together or treat their rates as discounts on groceries, fuel or every service.
Calculate the fee difference without borrowing future rewards
| Comparison | Arithmetic using the cited amounts | Boundary |
|---|---|---|
| Club first-year fee versus published standard dues | $60 − $20 = $40 | Pre-tax fee comparison at the source-check date; not $40 off merchandise |
| Plus first-year fee versus published standard dues | $120 − $50 = $70 | Pre-tax fee comparison; confirm the live enrollment amount |
| Plus versus Club promotional first payment | $50 − $20 = $30 | Difference between two qualifying new-member choices, before tax |
| Plus rewards over one membership period | min(0.02 × E, $750) | E is qualifying spending for that period after applicable exclusions/adjustments; no spending is assumed |
| Renewal reward | Record a separate $10 only if received and retained | No deduction from first-year cash payment; not an unlimited yearly credit |
Taxes, future fees and your eligible shopping amount are not estimated. An initial fee reduction, an earned purchase reward and a delayed renewal credit are not interchangeable. The same percentage does not mean the same saving when the base or timing differs.
Keep the dates and time windows separate
The linked military enrollment offers state January 31, 2027, or while quantities last. A primary membership lasts one year from issue. The 24-month look-back tests prior membership; the four-to-six-week period concerns reward delivery; the 12 months after credit concerns keeping the renewal reward; and the 24-hour deadline concerns auto-renew cancellation. None of these is the publication date.
Sources were read September 22, 2026. Some older secondary articles still describe different dues, look-back periods or Plus prices. Their article dates and offers are not substituted for the current linked military terms.
Use the military route before creating the membership
- Open the official military-help article and follow its ID.me link.
- Choose the Club or Plus military offer and check military eligibility and prior-membership history.
- Complete verification on that official linked service, then review the first-year price, tax, auto-renew terms and offer end before joining.
- Save the applicable terms and check the later renewal reward separately if you expect to qualify.
