SaluteScoutHouston Zoo Military Discount
The Zoo's official pages say active military and veterans receive 50% off year-round, but state the base differently: the Prices page says general admission (up to five guests; 2 adults and 3 children), while the FAQ says adult ticket price (limit five). Both require reservation and proof at entry. Zoo Lights is separate: its ticket page lists 10% off up to five tickets; its season year and discount base are unknown.

The Zoo's official pages state two admission-price bases
The official Prices and Discounts page gives the year-round 50% general-admission offer for active military and veterans, up to five guests. The official Welcome page FAQ instead says 50% off the adult ticket price, limit five. The rate matches, but the bases are not worded the same; both source wordings stay separate, and no ticket total or savings amount is calculated.
| Official admission source | Military offer stated | Base and limits | Reservation and proof | Offer period |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Official Prices and Discounts panel | 50% off general-admission tickets for U.S. veterans and active military. | Up to five guests (2 adults and 3 children); the page does not say whether the service member is included in that guest count. | A reservation is required; show proof of military service when presenting tickets for admission. | The page says all year long; it gives no start or end calendar date. |
| Official Welcome page FAQ | 50% off the adult ticket price at time of purchase. | Limit five; this FAQ's stated base is adult-ticket price. No savings total is calculated. | Online reservation is required; show military identification with the ticket at admission. | No military-offer validity period is stated in this FAQ. |
| Official general-admission ticket store | Unknown: the store displayed 'This store is not currently online.' | Unknown; no product or pricing terms loaded. | Unknown; no reservation flow loaded. | Unknown; the opened page did not show a season or offer period. |
The general-admission ticket store displayed “This store is not currently online” when opened on September 24, 2026. Its products and terms were unavailable, so no price or search-result snippet is used to fill that gap.
Zoo Lights is a separate seasonal ticket offer
The Zoo Lights ticket page is a separate event product, not the year-round daytime-admission offer. Its opened page states 10% off for military, up to five tickets, proof at entry, no stacking, and a five-ticket order cap. It does not name the season year or the 10% calculation base. The displayed $20.95 Military Admission amount is kept as a page-listed price only; the page does not explain its relationship to the 10%, so no savings calculation is made.
The Zoo's November 26, 2024 article reported the same 10% Zoo Lights offer during the 2024-25 event season, which it said ran through January 5, 2025. That is a historical event period, not evidence that a future season automatically renews the discount.

The membership-purchase discount is a different product
The official membership FAQ separately says military and veterans can receive an unspecified membership-purchase discount. It requires an advance email with proof of service and says the discount is not available online or on a previous purchase. The FAQ does not give the rate or a discount-validity period, so those fields remain unknown. This membership offer is not added to admission savings.
