The FAQ lists $5 off Standard Admission
The San Antonio Zoo FAQ states a flat $5 discount on the Standard Admission Ticket for the listed military groups. It says to use the Zoo's linked ticket portal and show valid Military ID at entry.
| Official source | Amount displayed | Eligibility and limits | Claim route | Date status |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Official military-discount FAQ | $5 off the Standard Admission Ticket; a flat amount, not a percentage. | For active duty, retired, and veteran members of the military, National Guard, and reserves. The FAQ does not state a ticket quantity or household cap. | Buy through the linked San Antonio Zoo ticket portal. The military member must show valid Military ID at zoo entry. | The FAQ gives no start or expiration date. An April 2026 Zoo event page separately describes the $5 military discount as year-round, every day; that statement is attached to that page and date. |
| Official Plan Your Visit ticket schedule | The Military ticket card displays 'as low as $8.00.' This is a displayed ticket price, not a stated discount amount. | The page does not identify the service categories, date conditions, or price basis attached to the $8.00 starting figure. | The page links to the Zoo's ticket portal; it does not explain how this price relates to the FAQ's $5 Standard Admission discount. | No validity period appears beside the $8.00 figure. Checked September 25, 2026; that is the review date, not a ticket date. |
The FAQ does not specify a percentage, a ticket quantity, or a household cap. No percentage or savings total is calculated from the $5 amount.
The $8 starting price is a separate official display
The Plan Your Visit page's ticket schedule separately shows Military admission “as low as $8.00.” It does not identify the dates or conditions for that starting price, and it does not explain how the $8 figure relates to the FAQ's $5 discount on Standard Admission. These statements remain in separate rows; no subtraction or percentage is inferred.
An official Zoo event page dated April 2026 also says the $5 military discount is available year-round, every day. The FAQ itself does not provide an expiration date. The event-page statement is kept tied to its source rather than used to fill other terms.
Free-entry and 50% family offers were dated event programs
The Zoo's 2024 and 2025 Zoo Salutes pages describe November events with free admission for the service member and a separate 50% rate for up to four immediate family members. The Military Child Month pages describe a separate April 2026 event. These event terms do not replace the FAQ's $5 Standard Admission discount.
The official April 2026 Zoo event page says the family offer ran April 6-30. The Zoo's Facebook post says April 6-19. Both dates are reported as stated, and both offers have ended. No date from these events is used as the $5 discount's expiration date.
| Official event source | Event offer | Audience and cap | Required route | Event period and status |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Official Zoo Salutes page - November 2024 | Free admission for the military member; up to four immediate family members could receive 50% off Any Day Tickets. | Active duty, retired, veteran, National Guard, and reserve members. The page names immediate family and caps discounted family tickets at four. | Purchase through the event ticket link; show valid Military ID at the front gate. Cannot combine with other offers, special events, or experiences. | Valid only during November 2024. Historical event; it does not establish a standing 50% offer. |
| Official Zoo Salutes event - November 2025 | Free admission for the military member; up to four immediate family members could receive 50% off Any Day Tickets. | Active duty, retired, veteran, National Guard, and reserve members; up to four immediate family members. | The page links to ticket purchase and requires Military ID at the front gate. | Official Month of the Military Child event - April 2026 | Free admission for military children ages 3-11; for each eligible child, up to four additional family admissions could be purchased at 50% off Any Day Admission. | Children of active duty, retired, and veteran members of the military, National Guard, and reserves, ages 3-11. Up to four additional family admissions per military child. | Online tickets required. A military parent or adult had to show valid Military ID on the visit date. The page says the event could not be combined with other offers, special events, or experiences. | The event page says April 6-30, 2026. It has ended. The same page separately says the Zoo's $5 military discount is year-round; this is that page's statement, not a percentage. |
| Official San Antonio Zoo Facebook post - April 2026 | Free admission for military children; up to four additional family admissions at 50% off Any Day Admission. | The post names children of active duty, retired, and veteran members, National Guard, and reserves. It does not give an age range. | Online advance purchase required; a military parent or adult must show valid Military ID at arrival. Cannot combine with other promotions or discounts. | The post says April 6-19, 2026, which differs from the Zoo event page's April 6-30 dates. Both periods have ended; the conflict is preserved. |
Third-party terms and unreadable results stay separate
GOVX's page describes a one-visit General Admission ticket and lists military family members among eligible groups, but the opened body shows no ticket amount or discount percentage. Its December 31, 2026 date is the ticket's validity date, not an identified sale or Zoo offer period. This third-party listing does not replace the Zoo FAQ.
The Zoo's Military Discounts page exposed only section headings in the readable text, and Chrome returned Cloudflare 403 on two opens. Military.com failed on two opens. The November 2026 Zoo Salutes calendar result returned 403 on two opens. Their missing policy details remain Unknown; no result title, URL date, or search snippet fills them.
